Citrus Capital Pekingese
Club of Central Florida History
In the mid 1980’s a few
dedicated Pekingese fanciers from the central
Florida
area met for the purpose of forming a club to celebrate the
unique qualities of this imperial breed. As interest and
membership grew, the Citrus Capital Pekingese Club of Central
Florida was recognized by the AKC in the early 90’s. Our first
licensed AKC specialty show was held in January, 1994 in Lakeland. Since that time
we’ve held many puppy matches, annual specialty shows and served
as host for the Pekingese Club of America’s rotating specialties
in 1998 and in 2007. Our members have bred and shown many
beautiful champion Pekes including Best in Show winners and
Pekingese Club of America specialty winners. Several of our
members’ Pekes have also won accolades at overseas events
including the World Dog Show.
We boast a diverse membership from across
the entire state with interests in not just the show Peke but
rescue, obedience, therapy and companion Pekes as well. Through
the years our goal has always been and will be the same: the
advancement and protection of our first love, the Pekingese.
